When you die, when you are dead, lifeless, forever gone, in the ground; Is it going to matter if you were pretty or not? Or if you were the hot jock in school, or the beautiful prom queen? No. By that time you will be rotting, and your looks will mean nothing. When people are at your funeral, are they going to be sitting around talking about your beauty or lack of? Or about how you touched their lives, about how you changed them? I challenge you to accept this: Beauty means nothing. Physical beauty, that is. When you’re time in this world is over, are you going to be laying there and with your dying breath be thinking, ‘Man, I wish I would have worn more make up in high school….’ I really doubt it. You know that warm feeling you get from helping people? I live for that. I could care less about whether or not some one thinks I am pretty. That doesn’t make their lives any better. No one has enough time on this planet, and people spend to much time unhappy. I know I have. Do you know what’s really beautiful? A smile forming on the face of someone who hasn’t experienced one in a long time. Love. Kindness. Peace. That’s beautiful. Not a face. Your legacy and name live on by what you left behind in this world. If you want to be remembered as a pretty face with a hollow heart, be my guest. But you’re beauty won’t carry on. I want to touch as many lives as possible and be remembered as the girl that cared. Not the pretty one. I want to change people in a permanent way. I want to be the change I want to see in the world, and I hope you do too. Because I know, more then anything else in this world, that if I could cause a lasting affect on another person’s life, that would make me beautiful. Because beauty to me exists only on the inside. Every other form, at some point, decays.
